Day 25 Down Day in Fort Wayne, IN June 3rd
Fort Wayne is really a lovely city. Beautiful old buildings and beautiful new buildings. Murals on many downtown walls.
We've got a frog thing going on!
We went for morning coffee and stopped into the Visitor's Center. Two lovely, earnest young women bubbled over with suggestions and enthusiasm. Stopping into a small bike shop got us pointed in the direction of their bigger store, through the new Promenade Park and across the Maumee River. Guess what Nancy bought? Rain pants!
We had "Lunch on the Square" from a choice of many food trucks. John discovered that Nancy's bike had a flat. It was so fortunate that it happened on a down day an, happily, he got it taken care of during the day.
Cathedral of Immaculate Conception

Old Court House
Trinity Episcopal Church
The Botanical Conservatory was a pretty stop in the afternoon, including the Live Butterfly Exhibit.
We had a special dinner at a well-established old restaurant called Henry's. Happy Anniversary to John and Nancy! Our friends from Steve's days in Viet Nam, Beth and Kevin, drove from Indianapolis to join us. It was so much fun to see them again and to introduce them to Nancy and John. They have created a non-profit called We Bloom, and have opened several Recovery Cafes. Look them up online. This couple do so much good in the world!
You guys are amazing (in so many ways!)! Fort Wayne sounds like a destination with its awesome murals and Portland Oregon-ish food trucks. Who knew??? Also, you pedaled right near one of my childhood homes in Rocky River, OH! Keep up the good work and positive energy. Love all those smiley pics! Hugs, Mary :)
