A breakfast stop at The Coffee Pot set Steve up in a good manner. He rode out onto the last of his MN trail routes.
Just a truck I saw at the restaurant that I liked
I went up toward Lake Agnes and took a few pictures before following a state road that went alongside the bike trail. I even saw Steve at one point. This is spectacular country, you can't go around a bend without coming to another lake, big or small.

Steve calls this Pelican Lake

I drove directly to the town of Ashby, where I easily found access to the bike trail. I rode 5.5 miles back before I connected with Steve. Back in Ashby we met a man who let Steve try his three-wheel recumbent bicycle, and a young science teacher who kindly let us get a golden-retriever-puppy fix with her 8 week-old charmer named Copper.
About a quarter mile down the road, we had lunch at the City Restaurant. So interesting, like stepping back in time. They even had the original time clock, a popcorn machine that was purchased when the restaurant was started in 1917, and cabinets of birds and ducks that must have been from way back, because they looked the same in the display of very old photographs.

I got to Fergus Falls early enough to stop in a park and wander the downtown main street.

By the time I was in line at the McDonald's drive-thru for iced coffee, Steve had made his way to the hotel. He showered and we went to the tourist bureau and museum. We then made our way to Opperman Lake, so named for our friend John Opperman's Great great grandfather!

We also tried to find the Broken Down Dam Falls, but we took this picture where our GPS said was the destination. We didn't even see water, let alone dam waterfalls.
The bike trail looks wonderful.
