Day 47 Fargo, ND to just beyond Enderlin, ND 55 miles Total 2224.1 mi

Our last morning in Fargo was SO much fun.  We went for breakfast (you know how Steve loves his breakfasts!) at Deaner's Diner.  Try to say that correctly, all you Mainers who pronounce Diner like Dine-ah.  Anyway, our waitress, Andrea, was a gem and when she heard of our trip, she was excited enough to have a picture taken with Steve.

Leaving the BW Hotel - a great stay with very nice staff
Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the swimming pool, which was a kid's dream play pool

We headed south away from the Interstate 94 corridor (that is sometimes a challenge with Google maps)
and found the agricultural land we expected.  I had to stop and take a picture when the road I was traveling crossed some train tracks.  The train itself was stopped, separated, with some on one side of the road and some on the other.  It must have been a long stop, and they did that to keep the road open.

You can't see in this picture, but the train cars on the right go off into the prairie as far as I could see

And on the left, there were also cars as far as I could see.  SO glad I didn't have to wait for it to go by!

Steve had the same reaction, but when we compared notes, he was actually on a different road seeing the same train!

We got to a point near Kindred when we turned West and Steve's GPS told him to go straight for 96 miles!  Obviously we had to break that up a bit.  My GPS, programmed for tonight's stop, told me to go straight for 28 miles.  And it did mean straight, no turns or even curves in the road.

We had planned to stop in Enderlin (Population 919), but back along, when we called for a reservation, both of the towns motels were fully booked because of an all-class reunion being held this weekend.

We did go into town for lunch.  There was a lot going on.  An annual cookout put on by the local bank, bouncy houses, live music, and even hot, fresh Monkey Balls.

We didn't try them, so I have no further information

We felt strange eating free burgers and chips from the bank, so we tried the only restaurant/clothing store/souvenir shop, the Trax-side Diner.  Steve had a good hamburger.  The waitress pointed out the specials board, so I asked her what "Tater Tot Hotdish" had in it.  She asked so incredulously, "You have never eaten Tater Tot Hotdish?"  that I decided it was another must-try in the name of local cuisine.

I will confess that I did not eat many of the actual tater tots, but the rest of the hotdish was pretty tasty.

We are actually staying tonight in Lisbon, ND, about 15 miles away from the route.  I picked Steve up on the straight road and will return him to the same spot tomorrow to continue his ride.
