Day 64 Cut Bank, MT to Summit, MT 61.2 Miles Total 3,140.8 mi

With a new tube, Steve went back to the flat tire spot to begin his ride.  He rolled into Cut Bank a few minutes later and just kept on toward the Rockies.

There are so many trains rolling across the prairie.  At one point, Steve had stopped for a break.  A train came along so he waved at it.  The conductor blew the whistle!

We crossed the reservation of the Blackfeet Indian Nation.

Steve's route took us south, away from the more touristed areas.  The Road to the Sun was a temptation, but by all accounts is incredibly busy and crowded.  After all, our goal is to keep going.  We have decided that this area might call for a separate trip back to do more exploring.

Steve met Ron and Linda Foster, a couple riding from Washington to Maine.  They are in for wonderful adventure! We wish them well on their journey!

Trains abound in this part of the world.  This one just kept coming and coming....

Steve rode to the summit of Marias Pass today, crossing the Continental Divide.  The Great Bear Wilderness in Lewis and Clark National Forest is to the south and Glacier National Park is to the north.
There is a monument to Theodore Roosevelt which was built 90 years ago on land donated by "Slippery Bill" Morrison, who was a trapper who had squatter's rights to the land at the Pass.

We celebrated with a Huckleberry ice cream at the Trading Post in East Glacier.

  1. I enjoy following your trip! If I was ten years younger I might be biking along.
