Day 67 McGregor Lake, MT to Libby, MT 53.8 miles Total 3,302.4 mi
Woke up to a flat tire. Not fun, but better than on the road. Leaving McGregor Lake, the skies were hazy in the cool morning. The lake is so clear and cold, although not glacially cold.
Lots of lakes. Lower Thompson Lake, Middle Thompson Lake, Upper Thompson Lake, Crystal Lake, Loon Lake. All beautiful.
We stopped for a break at Happy's Inn. A store/cafe/bar AND a town, all in one.
Steve rode away. I paid the bill and followed..about 800 feet down the road before I saw him pulled over, dealing with a tire problem.
We were greeted by this big guy inside the cafe. From this angle, he actually looks happy.
Sometimes the hidden gems need to be shared too:
Once he got going, Steve made good time. There was absolutely no phone signal for nearly 50 miles. I knew he could not contact me, so we hopscotched along. I would drive 5, or 8, or 10 miles ahead and wait til he caught up. He ended up having to pump up his tire about five different times.
It was 95 degrees and sunny, with a bit of a headwind, but he averaged 13.8 mph over the 53.8 miles. So happy to arrive in Libby, where we actually can get a signal for our phones.
Spoke with JW today. Says you're ahead of schedule ...going to be in WA sooner than expected...wo! Heavy peddling...ride on Colonel.
