Day 43 Albany, MN to Alexandria, MN 48.4 miles Total 2,059.3 mi
Albany offered no breakfast places, so Steve started out early on the Lake Wobegon Trail. After yesterday's rain, today was clear and very cool, with considerable wind. The trail is a lovely, wide, paved path with some shade. How do I know? Shortly after Steve left, I decided that there was no reason I should pass up the opportunity to ride here. I enjoyed the ride to Freeport and back to the hotel.
I returned just in time to check out and retrace yesterday's trip back to St Cloud. I discovered a quilt shop/gift shop/cafe...yes, all three!...in St Cloud that was not open on Sunday, and was determined to visit it. Wow, I was SO glad I went back to Gruber's Quilt Shop. This was the largest, most beautiful quilt shop I have ever seen. They had everything...fabric, notions, patterns, yarn, wool appliqué and supplies, fabric and more fabric. I was too overwhelmed to remember to take a photo.
In the meantime, Steve had a breakfast stop in Sauk Centre and a lunch stop in Osakis. He visited the Bowling Alley and Grill and had a great conversation with April.
Has its own pond as well as the lake. Beautiful landscaping, historic property.
Dinner was a diversion at Pike and Pint, a beautiful sports bar and restaurant. Mondays are Happy Hour all day with special appetizers, so that is what we had for dinner. Pear, caramelized onion, spinach and bleu cheese flatbread, and ahi tuna lettuce wraps. Yum.
Allane, that's great that you are getting a chance to ride. We are super impressed!
